FRESH!: What's real important to you?
TQ: Well, I think important to give back to the community. You know, to help others. I really enjoy doing it and I think it is very important that everybody do that.
.
FRESH!: When you were growing up in the City of Angels, was there a celebrity that you met that left an impression on you?
TQ: Eazy-E. I still miss him, to this day. He did a lot for hip hop and he doesn't really get credit for it
.
FRESH!: When someone says the name "TQ," what do you want them to think of?
TQ: Approachable! I want them to know that the fans or anyone, can come up to me and talk and say what's up. I'm approachable. Sometimes when you see a person on TV or listen to them on the radio, they seem bigger than life. But I'm just a person. I feel they will know what TQ is about if they come up and talk to me. I don't want them to be confused about who I am and what I'm about.
.
FRESH!: In the business, we get to meet lots of people, like Eazy-E. Is there any person you haven't met, that you really want to meet?
TQ: The person I would most want to meet is gone. I would have loved to have met Marvin Gaye. Everybody else, I guess I've pretty much met. Marvin Gaye would be the one.
.
FRESH!: I heard you used to read FRESH! in the classroom when you were in high school. Is that true?
TQ: Oh man, did I ever. I would take FRESH!, cut the top and bottom off and put it inside my school book. Then, it looked like I was studying and reading my school book, but FRESH! was really inside and I was reading that.
.
FRESH!: Yes, Eric Wright was my friend, too, and he really influenced me, this magazine and YO!, our sister magazine. I still miss him.
TQ: He was a special person, and I'm glad I got to know the real Eazy-E.
